Princess Diana Birth Anniversary: When Princess of Wales confronted Camilla Parker Bowles about affair with Prince Charles

Diana, Princess of Wales, who was born on 1 July, 1961, was the most loved princess and person anyone had ever seen. She may have been a princess by title but she was a true Queen of people's hearts by nature. Princess Diana was a member of the British royal family. She was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales - the apparent heir to the British throne and mother of Prince William and Prince Harry.

Princess Diana died in a car crash on 31 August, 1997, in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris while fleeing the paparazzi. The crash also resulted in the deaths of her companion Dodi Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul who was the acting security manager of the Hôtel Ritz Paris. Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones survived the crash.

On the anniversary of her birth let us look at how Princess Diana confronted Camilla Parker Bowles:

Princess Diana was married to Charles, Prince of Wales but their marriage was everything but rosy. Prince Charles was allegedly involved with mistress Camilla Parker Bowles for the entirety of his marriage to Diana.

Princess Diana once reportedly confronted Camilla Parker Bowles about the affair.

Diana was advised by her friends to ignore suspicions of an affair between her husband, Prince Charles and long-time friend Camilla Parker Bowles.

Princess Diana felt that she had to give her husband's mistress a piece of her mind, according to archived recordings from National Geographic.

Diana knew what she was getting herself into when she approached Camilla.

Camilla and Prince Charles were chatting with another friend in a downstairs room when Diana asked to have a moment alone with Camilla.

According to the recording, Diana revealed that Charles frantically ran upstairs asking the friend what Diana was going to do.

The Princess of Wales said even though she was terrified of Camilla, she told her boldly, "I'd just like you to know that I know exactly what is going on." Camilla attempted to avoid the conversation by saying she did not know what Diana was talking about.

Diana recalled Camilla saying that she had "everything she could ever want" and "all the men in the world." When asked what more she could want, Diana told Camilla, "I want my husband."

Diana did, however, apologise to Camilla for being in the way of her and Charles but she was still outraged, "I do know what is going on", she said to Camilla. "Don't treat me like an idiot."

In the car on the way back, Diana said that she cried like she never cried before.

Princess Diana was right about the affair as Prince Charles admitted to it in 1994.

In 1996, the royal couple filed for divorce and Prince Charles went on to marry Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005.
