Singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh recently spilled some interesting beans about his chartbuster 'Lungi Dance' from Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Chennai Express', and how it had initially hit rough waters.
'Lungi Dance' was featured in 'Chennai Express' at the very end and it was a tribute from King Khan and the whole team of the film to south superstar Rajinikanth.
The song hit it off with the audience instantly and within no time it became a a rage in the market, to the extent that it was played at every event, be it glam award nights, birthday parties, discotheques, weddings, and so on.
SRK did not like Lungi Dance at first, reveals Honey Singh
However, the song met with resistance from none other than SRK himself when Honey Singh first presented it to him.
In an interview with ETimes, Honey Singh revealed that when SRK first heard 'Lungi Dance', he straightaway rejected it. He shared that the superstar had called him after listening to his 'Angrezi Beat', and wanted something similar for his film.
SRK also narrated his entire film to Honey Singh for three hours, post which the singer promised to return with a song which will be apt for the film's vibe and will be superhit.
When Honey Singh told SRK he will release Lungi Dance as a single
"I made 'Lungi Dance' and he didn't like it. I told him, 'Chahiye toh theek hai, nahi chahiye toh main isko single release kar dunga'," Honey Singh recalled.
He added that the superstar took three whole weeks to decide whether he wanted 'Lungi Dance' in 'Chennai Express' or not.
After listening to the song multiple times, SRK finally agreed to feature it in 'Chennai Express', and the rest is history.
