The promotions for Samantha Ruth Prabhu's mythological drama 'Shaakuntalam' are in full swing. Directed by Gunasekhar, the film is scheduled for release on April 14, 2023.
In a recent conversation with MissMalini.com, the actress was seen getting candid and emotional about the period when she announced her separation to the world and what followed. It is known to the world that Sam was approached to do the famous 'Oo Antava oo oo Antava' song, a little before the film 'Pushpa: The Rise' was set to release. Speaking about how family and friends asked her to refrain from doing it, the actress said, "While I was offered Oo Antava, I was in the middle of the announcement of the separation. When the announcement came in, every friend of mine, every well-wisher, my family were like, "You sit at home, you will not do an item song now just after you announce a separation and you will say no to this." Even my friends who usually encouraged me to do Super Deluxe and challenge yourself, even they said 'No, do not do an item song'. So, I said, 'Okay, I'm doing it.'
Certainly, the world is glad that the brave actress did what she felt was right and 'Oo Antava' rose to become the highlight of 'Pushpa: The Rise'.

Supportive fans have been eagerly cuing in on all the conversations surrounding the actress, who is making her first film appearance following an ugly separation and divorce from Naga Chaitanya and her tryst with Dermatomyositis. But, Sam's grace and dignity through the tough phases has won her respect and admiration from all quarters.
'Shaakuntalam' also stars Dev Mohan and is based on the iconic love story of King Dushyant and Shakuntala.
Professionally, things are certainly looking upwards for Sam as the actress has also commenced shoot on Raj and DK's Indian adaptation of 'Citadel' with Varun Dhawan. Co-incidentally the Hollywood original starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden will premiere across the globe on her birthday i.e April 28, 2023.
