Thane: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Friday by two men who posed as policemen, the cops informed on Saturday.
In her complaint at the Vishnunagar police station, the victim said that the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm when she was taking a stroll with her boyfriend near a creek in Dombivili town of Kalyan taluka.
Senior Police Inspector P M Bhalerao said, “The girl is a class 12 student. The duo accused accosted them claiming to be policemen and asked them not to wander in the area. They took the girl into a forested area near the creek and took turns raping her. One of them also shot a video of the act and threatened to circulate it.”
The victim narrated her ordeal to her family. Initially, a complaint was lodged with the Railway Police but later the matter was transferred to the Vishnunagar police. Given the seriousness of the case, the police have formed five teams for investigation.
A case under section 376(D) (gangrape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and Information Technology Acts has been registered.
Accused shoot video of the incident
The men allegedly took the girl into a forested area near the creek and took turns raping her. One of them shot a video of the act and threatened to circulate it, the official said.
A case under section 376(D) (gangrape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and Information Technology Acts has been registered.
The police have appealed to women to avoid going to the Thakurli Khadi coast and Bawan Chawl areas as they are usually deserted. A few years ago, a similar incident had occurred in Bawan Chawl area.
In the past two years, there has been an increase in molestation and rape cases in Kalyan and Dombivali areas, said the police official.
