Court acquits two as no woman cop present during brothel raid
A sessions court has acquitted two persons including a woman, booked in 2014 for forcing women into prostitution. The court found that there was no woman police personnel present during the raid on a brothel in Grant Road in 2014, a mandatory requirement under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Maharashtra records 76 deaths in rain-related incidents so far
Rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of 76 people in the state during the ongoing monsoon season so far, a report by the state disaster management authorities said on Sunday. Of the total number of deceased, nine persons died on Saturday – four in Wardha district, three in Gadchiroli and one each in Nanded and the coastal Sindhudurg district, it said As many as 125 animals have perished since June 1 with rains lashing parts of the state.

A 23-year-old student became a victim of sextortion and lost Rs 4.68 lakh to fraudsters who posed as YouTube officials. The local police registered an offence, however, no arrest has been made so far.
The incident took place on June 30 when the second-year student shared his contact number with a woman on a dating app. After he received a video call on Whatsapp from the woman's number in evening, a semi clad woman made vulgar gestures. The complainant took 4-5 minutes to realise something was fishy and he disconnected the call.
