The Mumbai Police on Friday registered an FIR against former Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and two others for allegedly threatening to kill a man who had forwarded videos of senior NCP leaders, where they were speaking against the Hindu religion.

While the matter is being investigated by the Mumbai Crime Branch, the Chembur police have registered an FIR.

As per police sources, the complainant is a businessman and his identity is hidden for safety reasons. He was apparently threatened to kill by the minister and two others. The threats came via phone texts after the former forwarded the videos to Bhujbal where they were allegedly speaking ill about the Hindu religion.

The case has been registered under sections 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, confirmed the Chembur Police, who are handling the matter. "The investigation is in progress," said an officer from the Crime Branch, unit 6.
