Mumbai: Nikhil Ruparel, Khar resident and Congress party worker has moved metropolitan magistrate court, Bandra against reality comedy show India's got Latent and its participants, including comedians Sameer Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, over its content.

Ruparel, the National delegate NSUI Student wing (Congress) president had on Monday approached metropolitan magistrate court, Bandra through his lawyer Kashif Deshmukh against, Allahbadia, Raina, Ashish Chanchalani and Apoorva Makhija for their vulgar comments on the reality comedy show.

The complaint is moved to prosecute the accused under 296 ( obscene acts), 352( intentional insult) of BNS and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and issue process (summons against the accused). The complaint was submitted on Monday and the case may be taken up soon for hearing.

“The accused throughout the show, consistently used abusive language, which not only involved offensive and vulgar words but also conveyed such statements that negatively affect societal interactions,” Ruparel said in its complaint adding that

Seeking an enquiry and an action, the complaint states that such kind of comments should not be made in public discourse as they have the potential to severely degrade societal values, undermine the ethical standards upheld by the community, and negatively influence public morality.

"Such remarks contribute to the normalization of indecent conversations, desensitize individuals to inappropriate discourse, and erode the fundamental principles of respect, dignity, and decency in society. Moreover, they set a dangerous precedent that could encourage further propagation of offensive and obscene content, ultimately harming the collective conscience of the nation," reads the complaint.
