Ujjain: Union of Outsourced Employees of West Zone Electricity Distribution Company staged a protest at Jyoti Nagar office, on Thursday.

They are opposing the deduction of Rs 1,000 from their salary of May. The employees submitted a memorandum to the officers demanding full salary.

The agitating employees are hired by Peace Corporation Company. The company provides outsourced workers to the Western Electricity Distribution Company in six districts. More than 1,200 employees of the company are engaged in Ujjain district itself.

Their work includes generation, distribution of bills and meter reading among others. The company has started deduction from their salary for bonus payment from the month of April. In other districts, this deduction was implemented in April itself, but due to second wave of Covid-19, it was implemented in Ujjain from the month of May.

The employees received Rs 1,000 less as their salary for May. When they talked to the supervisor of the Peace Company in this regard, he told that the amount has been deducted for payment of bonus. They will get this amount before Diwali. The employees protested against this. Rahul Malviya, co-convener of the Outsourced Employees Union, said that the employees do not want any cut in the salary and have already intimated the company officials about it.
