Kolkata: Though few names were given to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to decide the Congress candidate against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from Bhabanipur constituency, the Congress High Command on Tuesday claimed that the Congress will not field any candidate against Mamata Banerjee.
Notably, before sending the names West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that he personally also doesn’t feel it will be good to pitch anyone against the TMC Supremo but a section of Congress leaders from South Kolkata objected to Adhir’s decision following which in a meeting the probable names were decided.
According to poll analysts in keeping with the 2024 Parliamentary election where the TMC and the Congress are uniting along with other anti BJP parties, the Congress High Command didn’t want to make a dent on it.
However, Left Front leader and senior Politburo member Sujan Chakraborty said that in an internal meeting the Left Front will decide on fielding an individual candidate in Bhabanipur.
Meanwhile, once again taking a jibe at both his party and TMC senior BJP leader Tathagata Roy said that BJP should pitch Subodh the one who serves tea to BJP leaders in party office should be made the candidate as the future of Bengali is of ‘panfries’.
