Veteran actress-turned-politician ditched her usual car ride recently and travelled by the Mumbai metro and auto rickshaw, all in a bid to beat the city's never-ending traffic.

On Tuesday, Hema travelled in the suburbs of Mumbai via the metro train and took an auto home, and the actress seemed to have a joyful experience overall.

She also documented her evening on her social media handle and stated that she enjoyed herself thoroughly.

Hema took to her official Twitter handle to share pictures and videos from her adventurous evening.

The veteran actress stated that it took two hours for her to travel from Juhu to Dahisar by car, and thus, she decided to ride back home using public transport.

The BJP leader travelled by the newly constructed metro line from Dahisar to DN Nagar, and then took an auto home.

"I must share with all of you my unique, wonderful experience.Drove 2 hours to reach Dahisar by car, so tiring! In the eve decided I would try the metro, and OMG! What a joy it was!True, we went thro tough times during the constr, but worth it! Clean, fast & ws in Juhu in 1/2 hr," she wrote.

"After my metro experience, decided to go by auto from DN Nagar to Juhu & that too was fulfilled. Landed by auto at my house & the dazed security could not believe their eyes! All in all, a wonderful, pleasurable experience for me!" she added.

Hema Malini, also known as the Dream Girl of Hindi cinema, is one of the most successful and highest-paid actresses of her time.

She made her acting debut in 1963 with a Tamil film called 'Idhu Sathiyam' and got a break in Bollywood in 1968 with 'Sapno Ka Saudagar', and since then, there was no looking back for her. The 74-year-old has acted in over 150 films and she has been honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour awarded by the Government of India, for her contribution to films and arts.

Hema has been serving as a member of the Lok Sabha and is representing the Mathura constituency for BJP since 2014.
