Filmmaker Aditya Chopra recently broke his silence on why his brother and actor Uday Chopra could not become a 'star' in Bollywood.
During a conversation in the new docu-series 'The Romantics', Aditya mentioned that even though Uday belongs to such a famous Bollywood family, he could not be successful because the audience did not like him.
He went on to say that although the filmmakers can launch new actors, whether they will be successful or not is completely in the hands of the viewers.

Aditya Chopra opens up on Uday Chopra's career
In the docu-series, Aditya was heard saying, "One of the things that people tend to ignore, is that every person who comes from a privileged background is not successful. I can articulate it without mentioning other people. I can just articulate it by mentioning my own family."
He went on to state, "My brother is an actor, and he's not a very successful actor. Here is the son of one of the biggest filmmakers. He's the brother of a very big filmmaker. Imagine a company like YRF who has launched so many newcomers, we could not make him a star."
"Why could we not do it for our own? The bottom line is, only an audience will decide 'I like this person, I want to see this person'. No one else," he added.

Uday Chopra's acting career
Uday Chopra marked his Bollywood debut with the film 'Mohabbatein', co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Jugal Hansraj and Jimmy Shergill. Even though the film was a blockbuster, Uday could not make a mark with his performance in it.
He went on to star in several other hit films including 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!', 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai', and the blockbuster 'Dhoom' franchise, however, they could not propell his career in Bollywood as an actor.
Apart from acting, Uday has also produced several movies including 'Yeh Dillagi', 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!', 'Pyaar Impossible', 'Grace of Monaco', and 'The Longest Week'.
