Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress leader Jitu Patwari, on Monday, called CM Mohan Yadav's announcement on mulling a liquor ban in religious cities as 'fake and delusional'.
Patwari said that the ban should have first been implemented in Ujjain, as it’s CM’s constituency & home town, also the city of famous Mahakaleshwar Temple.
Patwari also accused the Chief Minister of making frequent announcements to make headlines and still failing to deliver tangible results.
“If you want to ban liquor in religious cities, start with Ujjain, from where you are an MLA. You mislead people with empty promises, take loans, engage in corruption, and allow mafias to flourish. The financial and law enforcement situation in the state is deteriorating,” Patwari claimed.
'To preserve sanctity of religious places'
Earlier on Monday, CM Mohan Yadav mentioned the complaints of negative impact of liquor on the environment of religious cities are being frequently received.
Therefore, the government is seriously considering banning liquor in religious cities in order to preserving the sanctity of these areas.
He indicated that the policy review would be undertaken as the current budget year ends, with a focus on closing liquor shops within the boundaries of religious cities to address public concerns.
