Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A newly selected officer of State Forest Service after completing his training in Dehradun went to join on probation with a green message and peddled 170 kms all the way from his hometown Chhindwara to Balaghat to join his office, on Saturday.
Meet Vikas Mahure, who is on probation after selection in forest services. He has been given Balaghat office for the training purpose. He started from his hometown Chhindwara on Friday morning and cycled all the way to Balaghat via Seoni- a distance of 170 kms and traveling three districts to reach his office.
He reached Balaghat on Saturday. The forest staff in Balaghat was surprised and glad to meet such officer and greeted him with flowers. His travel by cycle has become topic of discussion in Balaghat office.
‘I did this to give two messages to the society- especially the youth. First is that all should come forward to save and conserve environment and wildlife,’ said Vikas, talking to a Free Press.
‘The covid pandemic has proved that our bodies have grown weak and are not strong enough to fight diseases. One needs to remain fit that includes cycling as one of the means,’ he added.
