Narmadapuram: Heavy rain disrupts life, orange alert by met department

Due to the incessant rainfall, many trees have been uprooted, major rivers in the district are now flowing to their brim and few schools of the city have been closed.

Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): Heavy rain received in several parts of Narmadapuram district since Sunday evening disrupted the normal life of people due to waterlogging in many low-lying areas. There is a forecast of more rainfall in the region by the Regional Met Office.

Due to the incessant rainfall, many trees have been uprooted, major rivers in the district are now flowing to their brim and few schools of the city have been closed. There is also news of the deaths of 2 cows due to electrocution during rain.

More than 4 inches of rain has been recorded in the district. There is an alert of heavy rain in the next 24 hours as well. The administrative staff is keeping an eye on the situation by visiting the area. District Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh has given instructions to make necessary arrangements at all the civic polling stations keeping in mind the heavy rains so that the polling on July 13 is not affected.

Due to continuous rainfall, there has been a situation of waterlogging in the low-lying areas of the district. According to the information received, Itarsi tehsil received 7 inch rainfall, the highest in this monsoon season followed by 5 inches in Dolaria, 4 inches in Pachmarhi, 3.5 inches in Narmadapuram and 3.5 inches in Seno Malwa.

The water level of Tawa Dam was 1133.40 feet on Sunday morning, which was recorded at 1138.70 at 11:00 am today, which is 5 feet more in the last 24 hours. The water level of Barna Dam was recorded at 1130.90 and that of Bargi Dam was recorded at 1354.33. The water level at Sethani Ghat of Narmada river was recorded at 939 feet.

The district has received an average of 16.83 inches of rain this year, which is about 6.43 inches more than last year's 10.47 inches so far last year.
