Madhya Pradesh: Kidnapped boy’s body found in canal, three held in Jabalpur

The Jabalpur police arrested three persons for their involvement in kidnap and murder of a minor son of a mining contractor, on Sunday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan showed his annoyance over the issue during a meeting of the administrative and police officers here in Bhopal

SP Jabalpur Siddhart Bahuguna said that the 13-year-old boy, Aditya, was kidnapped on October 15 from outside his house and the kidnappers demanded ransom of Rs 2 crore from the family. The matter was reported to the Sanjiveni Nagar police.

Police said that the boy was allegedly murdered and three persons, who committed the crime despite receiving Rs 8 lakh ransom from his family, have been arrested. The accused possibly killed the minor as the victim had recognised one of them as an acquaintance of his father, they said.

"The body of the boy was found floating in Bargi dam canal near Bichua village, located around 20 km from here," city Superintendent of Police Alok Sharma said.

A piece of cloth was found wrapped around the boy's neck, he said. "It is suspected that the boy was strangulated with a piece of cloth before the body was dumped into the canal," the official said.

The boy was kidnapped from Dhanvantari Nagar area here on Thursday when he went to buy some items from a shop near his home, he said.

Chief Minister Chouhan also directed strict action in the case of killing of a minor in Jabalpur in a meeting. He said that effective action should be taken to eliminate such criminals. No one should be spared. ADJ Intelligence Adarsh ??Katiyar said that the accused has been arrested in this case. A detailed investigation is being done in the case.
