Madhya Pradesh June 20 Weather Update: Monsoon Hits State; Heavy Rain Alert In Rewa, Sidhi & More

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The monsoon season has officially begun in Madhya Pradesh. On Thursday, many districts witnessed rainfall, with Neemuch facing the worst conditions as rivers and drains overflowed, sweeping away cars and bikes.

The same weather is expected to continue on Friday.

Weather Forecast for the Next 4 Days:

June 20: Heavy rain alert for Guna, Ashoknagar, Damoh, Panna, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, and Mauganj. Other districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur may see thunderstorms and rain.

June 21: Very heavy rain expected in Rewa and Sidhi. Heavy rain likely in Singrauli, Mauganj, and Shahdol. Storm and rain alerts for other districts.

June 22: Heavy rain likely in Guna, Ashoknagar, and Shivpuri. Thunderstorms and rain expected in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, and Gwalior.

June 23: Damoh, Katni, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Guna, and Ashoknagar may receive heavy rain. Alerts for storms and rain in other areas as well.

A weather scientist explained that cyclonic circulations, western disturbances, and active troughs were present throughout May. These weather systems kept developing, which led to frequent storms and rainfall even during the month that usually sees extreme heat.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Ashoknagar, Damoh, Panna, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, and Mauganj. These areas may receive 2.5 to 4.5 inches of rain in 24 hours.

Thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain are also likely in other parts of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. According to the weather department, this pattern is expected to continue for the next four days across the state.

Rainfall Updates from Districts:

In Bhopal, it started drizzling at 5 AM and continued till after 9 AM.

Mandla recorded 2 inches of rain overnight.

Gwalior received 31.3 mm of rain as it drizzled throughout the night.

In Raisen, rain started at 8 PM on Thursday and continued through the night.

Narmadapuram saw continuous rain for six hours from midnight to 6 AM.

Senior weather scientist explained that a low-pressure area, three cyclonic circulations, and two troughs are currently active. One of the troughs is passing near the state, which is causing widespread rainfall.
