Mumbai: In the 19 –crore drug cartel case, the Thane police are presently recording the statements of the employees at Centaur Pharmaceuticals Private Limited at Ambernathas a part of the investigations.
Accordingto sub-inspector Amol Walzade, Anti- Narcotics cell, Thane, “We are in the process of recording the statements of the employees and the workers of Centaur Pharmaceuticals Private Limited at Ambernath, Chikhloli and Morivalipada. On Wednesday, we had again conducted searches at the factory.”
“We are further questioning the staff of Centaur Pharmaceuticals Private Limited. The drugs seized during the raid are being presently tested by the Food and Drug Administration department officials. We are still probing where the drugs were being sold in the Indian market. I cannot divulge any further information since it may hamper the investigations,” said a crime branch official
On January 9, the police had arrested four persons in connection with a drug cartel, including two employees working in the production department at Centaur Pharmaceuticals which was busted by Thane crime branch. The police have seized 754 kilograms of 27 psychotropic drugs and chemicals worth Rs19 crore from the pharma company at Ambernath which were illegally hoarded by the American firm without a license and proper records .The four persons were arrested for acquiring, possessing and usage of banned substances and for criminal conspiracy under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
