Islamabad : Pakistan on Thursday accused India of supporting militant outfits and using Afghan soil for carrying out militant activities in the country.

Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal alleged that India was using Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Jamaatul Ahrar (JuA) and others for militancy in Pakistan.

“India under the garb of development assistance is colluding with the terrorist groups like TTP, JuA and is perpetrating acts of terrorism inside Pakistan,” he alleged. “We urge the Afghan government not to let its soil be used against its neighbours,” he said at the weekly media briefing here.

He also said that Pakistan was concerned about the health condition of Kashmiri leader Shabbir Shah.    In respond to a question, Faisal said Pakistan feels that its credentials with regard to the elite Nuclear Suppliers Groups (NSG) are second to none.

Responding to India joining the Wassenaar Arrangement, the spokesperson said that being member of one group was not a qualification to join another group.

India was admitted to Wassenaar Arrangement on December 8, a development expected to raise its stature in the field of non-proliferation besides helping it acquire critical technologies. Faisal said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects were progressing well and would be completed in three phases. Talking about the proposal to use Chinese Yaun in trade with Pakistan, he said the two countries aim to promote monetary cooperation between the central banks, implement existing bilateral currency swap arrangements, research to expand the amount of currency swap and explore to enrich the use and scope of bilateral currency swap.

“The two sides will actively use bilateral currencies for the settlement of bilateral trade and investment under the relevant arrangements,” he added.
