Bhopal: Irked over verification of their credentials, anganwadi workers who had come to attend panchayat at CM House, stage a protest on Sunday. Even women workers who were in their uniform – pink saree – were prevented from entering the venue as they dint possess any identification cards. As a mark of protest, they torched sarees in front of the CM House calling their verification as unjustified.
A number of anganwadi workers who had come from all across the state to attend panchaya called by Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, were in for a surprise when the security personnel asked them to produce their identity card for verification. Since many of them didn’t possess one, they were stopped from entering the venue.
Terming the rule as “unjustified”, enraged workers said they were never informed that it was mandatory to carry IDs like Aadhaar Cards or any other identification document. When even the women who were wearing pink saree uniform were denied entry, they in protest set their uniform on fire outside the CM House.
Chouhan had called agitating anganwadi workers for discussion at CM House. They said that they got a message asking them to reach Bhopal on Sunday. However they were not informed that they need to take their identification cards along as the same would be verified at CM House.
Meanwhile, a group of ASHA workers staged demonstration at Yagar-e-Shahjanahni Park for not calling them for the panchayat at CM house. Carrying black flags they protested in front of CM House. Mismanagement and lack of arrangements also left the anganwadi workers fuming. There were no arrangements of drinking water outside the CM. In the scorching heat, the women went looking for drinking water as the authorities have failed to arrange for it outside CM house
