Ujjain : A young civil engineer who had joined her job just around 8 months ago was forced to quit her job after harassment of seniors. The victim this time is 24 year old Garima Bhatnagar, who is a sub-engineer at Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), at the Khachrod sub-division.
She recently sent a shortly written letter of resignation to the superintending engineer Ujjain division on October 5. In the neatly written letter no reason behind the resignation was cited.
The uproar was created when a text message favouring the ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign and harassment of womenfolk, ending in save Gari…., was circulated in the engineer’s fraternity. Sources said, she was constantly pressurized by seniors and was under mental strain. Allegations of harassment were also orated by some of the colleagues.
When contacted Superintending Engineer VK Tiwari told Free Press that he is yet to get the resignation letter of Garima and once he receives the letter, a probe will be initiated. Meanwhile, District president of Diploma Engineers Association, Mithilesh Trivedi has written to the PHED officials for not accepting the resignation and makes an investigation before taking any action.
