Ujjain : Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) launched a drive to capture stray cattle from city streets on Thursday evening. Police supported the drive led by Commissioner Municipal Corporation (CMC) Avinash Lavania.
UMC came into action after stray cattle hurt a senior citizen couple of days back. Cops and UMC gang on Thursday evening captured stray cattle from Madhav Nagar, Teen Batti, Panchampura, Gopalpura, Lakshmi Nagar, Jyoti Nagar, Government Jaal School, Maksi Road and several other localities. Around 30 stray cattle were captured from different spots and they were transported out of the city. CSP Madhav Nagar Vijay Davar and TI RK Singh supported the drive as cops were seen capturing stray cattle on city streets.
Some cattle owners at Jyoti Nagar raised protest against the drive and argued with UMC officials. CMC Avinash Lavania was present at the time stray cattle were captured. He warned stray cattle owners to remove their cattle from streets. The drive will be continued in the days to follow.
