UMC elections on Aug 12; political activities gear-up

Ujjain : Political activities geared up suddenly on Monday with the State Election Commission (SEC) issuing a notification for the elections of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC). Polling for electing corporators from 54 wards and the Mayor (reserved for SC female candidate) will be conducted on August 12 and the counting of votes will be held on August 16. Process for filing nomination papers will begin at the Collectorate here on Tuesday from 10.30 am. The term of the outgoing UMC Council will come to an end on August 11 and notification for the fresh elections was awaited for last 25 days; but, it was delayed owing to certain legal, political and administrative reasons. However, the SEC set all such issues to rest on Monday and paved the way for election of such an UMC body, which will host the upcoming Simhastha Fair-2016.   See pg-12 for more
