Ujjain: Muslim community of the city celebrated birth anniversary of prophet Mohammad on Monday as a large number of people, from 8 to 80s, walked together in a procession spreading festivity and friendship across the city.
The procession was flagged off by Shear Quazi Khallikurrehaman from Jama Masjid in the morning and after travelling through Bhargava Marg, KD Gate, Kamari Marg, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar, Lohe Ka Pul, Topkhana, Daulatganj, Naisadak, Kanthal, Teliwada, Mirza Naimbag Marg, Tanki Choraha, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Mandir and Dhaba Road culminated back again at the mosque.
On this occasion, Seerat Committee functionaries Shakir Bhai Khalwale, Nazammuddin Dehlavi, Mohammad Ali Naqshbandi and many prominent persons were present. Khalwala informed that a debate will be organised on Tuesday at 9 pm at Tanki Chowk and prayers will be performed on Wednesday at Madina Mosque, KD Gate.
The procession was warmly welcomed by former MLAs Batukshankar Joshi and Rajendra Bharti, Ashok Prajapat, Anant Narayan Meena, Rejendra Vasishth, Mahesh Parmar, Chetan Yadav and others by showering flowers. On this occasion, Sultan Shah Lala, Amanullah Khan, Saleem Khaleefa, and Mohammad Ayyub were present. The committee extended a vote of thanks to the administration for its efforts towards successful hosting of the programme.
