Ujjain: BJP MLA Mohan Yadav has claimed that the Kshipra river, which used to get dry during May-June months some two decades ago, is slowly getting its original form of a perennial river. “New steps like chunari programme, Kshipra tirth parikrama yatra initiated on the behest of prominent seers have virtually created a lot of awareness among the people. Moreover, the governments have also become sensible and launched various schemes like Narmada-Kshipra link project, Khan river diversion, etc, to resurrect the pristine glory of the river,” he said.

Dr Yadav, who is going to lead Kshipra tirth parikrama and chunari programme for the successive 13th year from June 11, was addressing a symposium at Bharti Kala Bhavan, near Tower Chowk, on Sunday evening. Kshipra Lok Sanskrati Samiti and Wakankar Bhartiya Sanskrati Anveshan Nyas organised the programme. With it, this year’s event got underway.

Swami Madhav Prapannacharya Maharaj, Dr Shailendra Kumar Sharma, Dr Rakesh Dhandh and others also expressed their views with regard to bio-diversity of Kshipra river basin. On Monday, concerned experts will shed light on the archaeological heritage of Kshipra river basin at 4 pm at the same venue.

Prior to it while talking to reporters informally the MLA said that increasing participation in these events clearly reflects the growing awareness among people. He said that as Indore, Ujjain-Alot and Dewas-Shajapur parliamentary constituencies’ fall under the Kshipra basin, all three MPs will also be invited so as to give a pace for the protection and conservation of the river. He informed that from this year the duration of the events will be of four days instead of two as two-day additional events in the form of academic sessions have been planned.

Accordingly, Dr Yadav further informed that yatra will be taken out on June 11 and 12 to mark the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. It will begin at 8 am from Ram Ghat and will then traverse through Narsing Ghat, Anandeshwar Mandir, Jagdish Mandir, Gau Ghat, Jantar-Mantar, Varuneshwar Mahadev Mandir, Indore Road, CHL Hospital, Prashantidham Sai Mandir, Gurukul (Triveni), Navgrih Shani Mandir, Gothda, Sikandari, Daudkhedi, Chandmukh, Chintaman, Mangrola Fanta, Lalpul, Bhukhi Mata Mandir, Gurunanank Ghat and conclude at Dutt Akhara Ghat for night stay.

On the second day (On June 12), the yatra will start from Dutt Akhara Ghat and will then traverse through Ranjeet Hanuman Mandir, Kaalbhairav Mandir, Siddnath Mandir, Angareshwar Mandir, Mangalnath Mandir, Sandipani Ashram, Ram Janardan Mandir, Garhkalika Mandir, Bharthari Gufa, Rinmukteshwar Mandir, Valmiki Ghat, Durgadas Rathore Chhatri, Chakrateerth, Danigate, Dhaba Road, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar, Gudri Chouraha, Mahakaleshwar Temple, Bade Ganesh Mandir, Harsiddhi Mandir and reach Ram Ghat where Ganga pujan, chunari arpan and bhajan sandhya programmes will be organised in the evening hours.
