Three-day Gurupurnima celebrations to commence today

Ujjain : The Mahakal City, which is known for traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara (teacher-student tradition) since the time of Maharishi Sandipani and Lord Krishna (some 5200 years ago), is all set to commemorate the ‘Gurupurnima Mahotsava’ on Friday. A series of programmes have been organised to mark this pious occasion under three-day celebrations.

It is for the first time that the Ujjainites have got the auspicious presence of noted seer and Bharat Mata Mandir, Haridwar founder Swami Satyamitranand Giri Maharaj. The seer arrived for three-day celebrations arranged by the Samanvaya Pariwar here on Thursday and was accorded a warm reception by his disciples at Shivalaya Parisar. Those present on the occasion included Dr TR Thapak, Suresh Morh, Mahesh Kanadi and Radheshyam Soni among others. On Friday, the seer will deliver discourse at 8 pm at the Sankul Hall of Kalidas Sanskrit Academy.

A bhajan sandhya programme has been arranged on Friday at 8 pm at Anandeshwar Ashram, Chakrateerth. Gurupurnima celebrations will start on Friday at Param Shanti Seva Ashram, Chintaman Road during which Bhagwansharan Bapu will deliver discourse on Shriram Katha every between 12 to 4 pm. Two-day Gurupurnima celebrations will begin on Friday at Gayatri Shaktipeeth. Akhandjaap of Gayatrimantra will be held between 6 am to 6 pm. The 37th Maharishi Sandipani Smrati Mahotsava will be organised on Saturday at 9.30 am at Sandipani Ashram. School Education Minister Paras Jain will be the chief guest of the programme, to be presided by Vikram University Vice-Chancellor Prof Jawaharlal Kaul. Shri Harsiddhi Bhakt Mandal hasd demanded the Chief Minister to commemorate Gurupurnima Utsav as Sandipani Mahotsava.

Likewise, Vyas pujan, havan, abhishek, bhajan, aarti, prasadi vitran etc programmes have been hosted on Saturday from 8 am at Paramdham Adhyatma Vidya Kendra, Kaharwadi. An eye examination camp will be organised on Sunday from 11 am at Avadheshdham Ashram, Maxi Road to mark the occasion of Gurupurnima.
