Ujjain : Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ramji Kotwani passed away here on Tuesday. He was 91 year old. A wave of mourning spread over the city after the news of Kotwani’s sad demise reached to his well-wishers.He was served by his four sons Subhash, Manohar, Shiva and Ashok and three daughters Rani, Padma and Meena.
Kotwani was a staunch follower of RSS as he used to start his day with the salute to the RSS flag and the song. Though he could not attend the RSS assembly, but used to practice it at home. He was born in village Hala Purana of Hyderabad district of Sindh region of undivided India on October 10, 1923. During pre-independence time, he was searched by the police after threw a bomb on the Britisher. On the advice of his father, he left Karachi along with his wife and elder son and reached Ujjain in 1946.He met a person in Sangh uniform and got shelter. He was having only Rs 2000 at that time. He started a footwear shop at Khadi Bhandar on Nai Sadak and later started in Malipura. He used to work for RSS on Saturday and Sunday. He remained in the jail for 19 months and underwent hardship.
Kotwani’s funeral procession will be taken out from his residence located near AK Building, Freeganj at 11 am and funeral will be performed at Chakra Tirtha crematorium, on Wednesday. After getting the news of Kotwani’s sad demise, BJP and RSS leaders, volunteers thronged to his residence.
