Ramghat should look as the most photogenic spot: Dr Pastor

Ujjain : Ramghat area should look as the most photogenic so it could attract the world media during Simhastha Fair-2016. The banks of Kshipra would be the center of attraction for every visitor at the grand congregation. The banks should look beautiful and attractive. ‘Friends of Kshipra’ campaign would be launched to clean the river.

This was directed to officials by Divisional Commissioner Ravindra Pator during his visit to the banks of Kshipra, on Monday. Visitors from local and global would visit the city at Simhastha. Only 172 days are left with the administration to host the grand religious congregation. Dr Pastor visited Mahakal Zone and inspected Kshipra ghats. Directives were issued to Ujjain Development Authority and Ujjain Municipal Corporation for starting beautification works at either side of the river. Both the departments were instructed to develop Ramghat area as the most photogenic as the whole world would capture the images of this place. Underline cabling of power cable should be done at Ramghat. UDA was asked to paint the ghats to reveal its true beauty. Posters, banners and other accessories held up around the ghats should be removed.

IG V Madhukumar told that Ramghat area would appear as an iconic for the whole world during Simhastha. Dr Pastor directed Collector to launch a special campaign ‘Friends of Kshipra’ to clean the holy river. Social organizations of the city should be added in the campaign. The river should be cleaned from Lalpul to Kaliyadeh Palace. Officials were instructed to ensure proper cleaning of ghats. Priests who are seen throwing pujan ingredients in the river should be removed from the ghats. All pujan accessories should be collected in baskets. Directives were also issued for installing maps of approaching routes to ghats. PHE and PWD officials should be provided the work plan of exit and entry points to Ramghat.

Dr Pastor also asked UDA officials to prepare a proposal of electric decoration of ghats. Welcome messages should be displayed at ghats with the help of attractive light decoration. The proposal should be put before divisional high power committee. Necessary lighting should be done at all ghats and there should not have any dark zone. Retaining wall should be built behind all ghats to prevent from land sliding. Directives were given to take action against illegal excavation from river. The culvert built near Bhukhi Mata ghat should be repaired. Railing should also be made higher. It was found at Nursing Ghat that UMC had cut down the trees on which polythene got tangled. Trees should not be cut any cost. During the inspection of entry road to Ramghat from Narsing Ghat, SP Verma told that a slope should be built over there because of heavy rush of crowd. DIG Rakesh Gupta, Collector Kavindra Kiyawat and others were present.
