Ujjain : Congress wants to leave no stones unturned over the increasing cases of farmer’s suicide due to ruined crops and cautioned for intensifying their agitation on Friday. Congressmen alleged due to lackadaisical attitude of the state government over providing relief to the farmers they are bound to choose the way of suicide.
Former MLA of Ghattia Ramlal Malviya along with the Youth Congress president of Ujjain-Alot constituency Hemant Singh Chauhan and others submitted memorandum to the collector Kavindra Kiyawat in this regard. While talking to pressmen Malviya said we had also submitted memorandum in this regard on August 18 but neither government nor administration paid heed on our demand as a result four farmers of Ghattia itself had committed suicide within last week.
Malviya alleged that administration gave the loan letter of Rs 1, 05,000 to the family of late farmer Hari Singh resident of village Runji at the place of providing help to the family. However, Malviya looked perplexed when question related to the usage of water of Sahebkhedi and Undasa pond was asked from him. Malviya said we had also urged from collector on this issue for the benefit of farmers.
