Ujjain : The city police on Thursday busted a gang of chain snatchers and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh, 2 mobiles, and one pulsar bike from their possession. Commissioner of Police Anurag Kumar said that the gang was busted following a tip-off received by Police. They received information about two chain-snatchers of Indore are committing crimes in city.
The arrested accused were identified as Bunty and Anil, both residents of Indore. Gang leader Gopal Balai absconded away, police said. SP said that the gang members used bogus registration numbers on two-wheelers to evade detection. We have recovered a pulsar on which they were trying to escape the patrolling from them. They would mostly target elderly women and snatch their gold chains. The accused said once out of jail they committed 4 crimes in thinking that the police would not suspect their involvement. The accused also revealed that they were about to commit a crime again two days ago but had to run away after realizing that the police was conducting intense checking at barriers. They, however, were nabbed near Harifatak Square, Hanuman Naka. The police are hoping to recover more gold chains from him. The police said the gang had different charges of chain-snatching and looting vehicles against its name, spanning the jurisdictions of Nagda, Unhel, Nanakheda and Indore.
