Ujjain : It was revealed shockingly at the meeting of District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee that only 31 out of 1138 villages were declared free from open defecation. It shows the sorry state of Clean India Campaign in the district.
Administration always claims that government schemes are implemented on the ground level. However, the statistics of making district villages free from the devil of open defecation is shocking. Administration has managed to make only 31 out of 1138 villages of the district free from open defecation. MP Chintamani Malviya was chairing District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting on Thursday. He directed officials to speed up the work and gave target of only 100 villages to make free from open defecation by the end of December 2015.
It was also informed during the meeting that toilets have been built in 4597 BPL and 3161 APL families of the district. 23 Gram Panchayats have got Nirmal Gram Puraskar. Ujjain Janpad Panchayat has 768 BPL and 462 APL families having toilets while Ghattia has 176 BPL and 111 APL, Barnagar has 641 BPL and 493 APL, Tarana has 1165 BPL and 692 APL families, Mehidpur has 1220 BPL and 386 APL families and Khachrod has 627 BPL and 1017 APL families with toilets. MP Malviya expressed discontentment over not providing aid to the family of the deceased father-son who were died in Bichhrod. Investigation report of incomplete work of Panchayats was sought. 3 members team would present a report at the following meeting. Antyodaya fair would be organized in the month of November.
Zila Panchayat CEO Ruchika Chauhan presented a follow-up report of the previous meeting. Zila Panchayat president Mahesh Parmar imparted his views. Members Vibhash Upadhyay, Gulrez Shaikh, Usha Soni and others were present.
