Ujjain : Almost 25 percent of the city areas were trapped under blackout for about an hour due to severe faults developed in certain electricity feeders in the wake of a major lightning incident, here on Saturday night.
As per available details, a major lightning incident occurred near Khedapati zone of the DISCOM which lasted for about 30 seconds. It created panic among masses due to resultant blackout. The 132/33 sub-station at Khedpati zone developed severe faults. This zone is among four zones of the city, but 25 percent of the population of Khedapati zone, Doodh Talai, Nagarkot, Jyoti Nagar, Freeganj etc areas trapped under darkness for more than 30 minutes. Though the power supply was restored in most of the said areas, the residents of Khedapati zone resorted to chakkajam on Agar Road due to the failure of DISCOM officials to restore power arrangements till late night. Police force was deployed there to avoid any untoward incident.
