Ujjain : Municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot directed that one half of the Kartik Fair Ground where swings are erected should be leveled by the soil unearthed from the sump well being made near fair ground and age old wall made on the ground which divides Kartik Fair market from the swings area should be dismantled so that ground can come on uniform level.
These were some of the prominent directions being given by municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot and Mayor Meena Jonwal to the officials of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) in inspection of the preparation work of upcoming Kartik Fair. Municipal speaker wants that ground should be leveled by the soil but for erection of the big swings like giant wheel, merry go round and others needs firm ground to handle the load of tons. Process of the solidification of laid soil also needs considerable amount of time. If the laid soil could not be able to solidify before Kartik Fair which is merely few days away than in such kind of circumstances how swings will be placed on the ground. If any untoward accident would occur, due to the malleable ground then who will be held responsible for the accident.
Despite repeated attempts of Free Press none of the concerned functionaries of UMC picked up the call. However, deputy commissioner RP Shrivastava has given directions to the gang members of UMC of leveling the ground within two days. Leveling work also lies in doldrums as one of the official of UMC on condition of anonymity informed that PWD officials wants that UMC should level the ground but responsibility of the leveling lies in the hands of PWD. Breaking of the wall which served as the divide between fair markets and swing area also can lead new problem of the encroachment of excess land allotted, by traders and owner of swings. Mayor-in-council members including Radheshyam Verma, Yogehwari Rathore, Durga Chaudhary, Aarti Guru and other corporators were also present during the inspection.
