Ujjain : “I have no personal agenda and nobody is untouchable for me as well,” said Makhan Singh Chauhan, chairman of the Central Simhastha Fair Organising Commiittee (CSFOC).
Talking to the correspondents at the Simhastha Fair Authority soon after assuming the office on Thursday afternoon, Makhan Singh listed his priorities for the successful and memorable hosting of the mega international event. “Every day will be important for me…I will assess the ground realities first…will talk to all stake-holders…will give full time and will be available for round-the-clock…nobody is untouchable for me,” he elaborated.
Makhan Singh, an RSS ideologue and former organising general secretary of State BJP, also said that he has old associations with Ujjain and he has actively participated in the Simhastha Fair since 1980. “I know about all aspects of the religious event…government machinery is involved in preparations…citizens are also mentally prepared to host the event…sadhus have also started arriving Ujjain…my role will be of coordination,” maintained he. According to him, field level workers will be included in local committee.
Responding to a query, the veteran leader said that he has no interest in talking about the past issues related to the Simhastha Fair and would only focus on present activities. First meeting of the CSFOC will be held in Bhopal shortly and rest meetings will be organised in Ujjain alone. “If anybody wants to make submissions with regard to anything he can approach me…we will discuss it and apprise the government about the same,” he added. He, however, restrained himself away from replying to some ‘disputed’ issues.
