Ujjain : Former Member of Parliament (MP) Premchand Guddu has lost the case of corrupt practices in the elections against presiding Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya in motion hearing. Elated with his victory MP Malviya held a press conference at the local press club on Thursday.
Malviya said it is the victory of public and their mandate. Malviya said that Guddu had lodged the case dishonoring the public mandate on baseless accusations and hence got the inevitable result. Case lawyer Sanotsh Athawale said, Guddu had lodged a case of corrupt practices against Malviya in the Lok sabha elections of 2014. But the case was suspended in the motion hearing of the high court, after the second party failed to produce any concrete reply or evidences in support of any of allegations made by them. Justice Alok Verma was the judge for the case. Athawale said the prosecution did not even have concrete reason for filing the case so the court quashed it saying it as non working writ. Further Guddu had alleged forging in the EVM’s but no documents were produced relating to the accusation and also the Election Commission was not made a party.
