Ujjain : City police rescued two girls during a raid conducted on two houses of Mahananda Nagar here on Saturday. The girls are reportedly minor and have been trafficked from Guwahati, Assam.

According to Child Welfare Committee, the anti-human trafficking organisation rescued the girls with the help of police. The victims are aged 16 and 11. Sanjay Saxena of Child Welfare Committee said the accused enticed the girls by promising them good job and life in the city. The girls have been sent to Balika Griha. The 16-year old girl was rescued from a house located at Sector-C of Mahananda Nagar. The 11-year old girl from Assam was rescued from railway station on August 3 after she left her employer’s house in Mahananda Nagar to catch a train to her house.

Victim Rajina (11) (name changed) told Child Welfare Committee that she along with another young girl was brought to Ujjain by a woman named Seema, wife of Jakir Hussain from her village in Assam. Seema’s husband works in local High Court. While the other girl Fatima (name changed) (16) was rescued from Mahananda Nagar located house of Congress leader, Noori Khan. ‘Seema and her husband are the main conspirators of the case who brought the girls illegally to the city. Fatima is adult and married, we have all documents to justify the correct age of the girl’, said Noori Khan, who is out of the city.

The other minor girl alleged that she was brought to Ujjain to work as a domestic worker where she was beaten regularly and not allowed to contact her family. She narrated that she escaped from the house on August 2 after which she came to the railway station for catching a train to Guwahati. She was spotted wandering in distress by vendors of railway station who alerted the General Railway Police (GRP). GRP later handed the girl to child line, informing Child Welfare Committee. Same day the Hussain family also registered an FIR at Nanakheda police station for the missing of the girl.

CSP Vijay Dawar at Madhav Nagar police station said “We are investigating the case. It will be transferred to Human Trafficking Wing, after which a formal case will be registered. A case under Sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and Bonded Labour Act is possible against the conspirators.”

“An FIR should have been registered automatically to begin an investigation into the case. Police should investigate if any human trafficking gang is involved in the case. Since the family is very poor, we have offered to assist them to meet their child here,” said Ritesh Kshortriya of Aangan Balika Griha.
