Ujjain : Sky over the industrial area of the city got filled with smoke when a major fire broke out in one of the factory at Udyogpuri, Maksi Road on Thursday evening. The conflagration was broken out in a Saurabh Chemicals factory around 7.25 in evening, however exact reason of the inferno could not be established till late night. Owner of the factory was identified as Saurabh Maaru.

Incident of fire came in light when one of the chemical tanks containing various chemicals including methanol and amyl alcohol blasted and soon fire engulfed the entire compound. Around 50 meters high flames irrupted from the factory and sounds of repeated blasts thundered the area. Entire fire fighters staff with the 5 water Lorries was seen struggling to douse the huge flames of giant fire.

Water tankers and foam lorries were also called from Indore, Nagda, Dewas and adjacent areas of the city after the resources available with Ujjain fire brigade proved insufficient. Fire fighters were struggling till late night to douse the fire. Municipal Commissioner Avinash Lavania, Additional District Magistrate Awadhesh Sharma with police and administrative officials were keeping strict vigil at the situation. Loss of more than 5 crore was estimated in the accident and no casualty has been reported till late night.
