Ujjain : Religious fervour of the devotees of Shiva was on their height when Lord Mahakal visited his subjects on third Monday of the auspicious month of Shravan.
Thousands of Shiv bhakts thronged to get a glare of Lord Mahakal presiding in the silver palanquin, which was adorned with the colourful flowers in the replica of Chandramauleshwar. Chief Minister (CM) Shivraj Singh Chauhan accompanied with his wife Sadhna Singh and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti paid obeisance to Lord Mahakal and thanked for the sweeping victory in the civic polls. CM with his wife and Minister Bharti gave their shoulder to the palanquin as palanquin was lifted from the Sabha Mandapam.
Procession was started 15 minutes late from the temple as police personnel were facing hard times to manage crowd due to the presence of the Chief Minister in the temple. Devotees who were on fast to please Lord Mahakal joined the palanquin procession started from the Mahakaleshwar Temple. CM walked with the procession till Ramghat where again pujan was performed at the banks of Ramghat. Various leaders of BJP including Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya, MLA Mohan Yadav, newly elected Mayor Meena Jonwal and corporal of various wards accompanied CM in the procession. According to the tradition, replica of Shiv Parvati sitting over Garud was carried out followed with Lord Manmahesh riding over the royal elephant.
Then the Savari moved towards Mahakal Road, Gudri Choraha, Bakshi Bazaar, Kaharwadi and stayed at Ramghat where pujans were performed. Again the procession moved towards Ramanujkot, Kartik Chowk, Khati Ka Mandir, Dhaba Road, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazar, Gudri Choraha and culminated back at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Horse riders escorted the procession while units of District Police force and workers of voluntary organizations accompanied the procession. Various Bhajan Mandalis were chanting the Bhajans of Lord Shiva all along the procession. Devotees from all walks of life marked their presence in the holy Savaari reflecting hues of devotional ecstasy.
