Ujjain : Thousands of Muslims wearing skull caps gathered on the all routes leading to Jama Masjid located at vegetable market of old city area at the time of memorandum submission against the inflammatory remark given by Hindu leader, on Friday afternoon.
City Quazi Khaliqurrehman along with other Muslim clerics submitted memorandum addressed to the President Pranab Mukherjee to ADM Avadhesh Sharma and vociferously kept his demand to give capital punishment to the former chief of Hindu Mahasabha, Kamlesh Tiwari. City Qazi Khalikurrehman informed Free Press that Maulana Nazir, Hafiz Ebrahim, Hafiz Ayub, Maulana Nasir and Maulana Arif were especially present during the memorandum submission. Memorandum submission remained more or less peaceful and police was seen alert to avert any untoward incident.
Few days ago Kamlesh Tiwari had given inflammatory remark against Prophet Mohammad in Lucknow. In the protest of remark members of Muslim community staged protest across the country in that row memorandum was also submitted in the city. Since morning security of the old parts of the city including Topkhana, Begum Bag, Old Sabji Mandi, Anda Gali and in other Muslim dominated area had been beefed up by the police. ASP Amrendra Singh, CSP Mankamna Prasad, CSP Vijay Dawar along with SDM Kshitij Sharma and Joint-Collector RP Tiwari kept strict vigil on the entire situation since morning.
