Mumbai: Western Railway once again produced a pleasing attacking display to register a convincing 5-1 victory against Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) in an Elite Division ‘Super Six’ play-off match, of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League, played at the Cooperage ground.
The captain of the Western Railway side Ravikant Naidu led by an example and scored two goals.

He was well-supported by teammates Kennistan C., Clayton D’Souza and Somnath Mondal all netting one each. Western also contributed towards RCF’s goal when left wing back Avinash D in an attempt to clear to safety headed into his own goal RCF medio Ganesh Date’s floater from the left.

The railwaymen, who had beaten Mumbai Customs 7-1 in their opening match, now have six points while RCF suffered their fourth successive loss. They play their last play-off match against Indian Navy on Monday.

The Western once again showed good understanding and worked as a cohesive unit as they gradually took control of the proceedings before opening the account in the 18th minute. Naidu combined with midfielder Somi P.T. to open the RCF defence before shooting past goalkeeper Narendra Singh from close.
