Margao : Sporting Clube de Goa and defending champions Mohun Bagan played out a 1-1 draw in their I-League clash at the Fatorda Stadium here on Tuesday.
Despite the draw, the Kolkata giants held on to the top spot in the points table with 22 points from 10 games, having won six and drawn four.
The Goan club have 13 points from 10 games, with three wins, four draws and three losses. The visitors got off to a positive start with some attacking play upfront and it eventually paid off when Fernandes opened the scoring for the defending champions.
Winger Sony Norde sprinted and danced his way on to the left as he went past Joseph Clemente and played a cross in for Fernandes who had the simplest of finishes to make it 1-0 for the visitors.
