Mumbai: Fresh from winning the Aditya Birla Memorial Cup, Bake House Cafe team carried the momentum with a 8-2.5 verdict over Artillery, in the Southern Command Polo Cup played at ARC Grounds, Mahalaxmi on Monday. It was Bashir Ali who spearheaded Bake House Cafe with a splendid seven goals. With an advantage of 2.5 points which before the encounter, while Bake House Cafe had eight goal handicap as against Artilerys four.
Bake House came close on many occasions but couldn’t manage to convert the goals in the first chukker. However, in the second Chukker, it was the dependable Basheer Ali who opened the account for Bake House with a double strike and Sunny Patel added one as they raced to a 3-0 lead at the end of the second chukker.
Basheer Ali was in the pick of action, as he exhibited brilliant polo attacking the opponents and creating openings. This saw him score twice in the third chukker as Bake House secure had a cushion of 6-0. Artillery did make a start but it was too late as they manage a just one throughout the match.
