Mumbai: The National Sports Club of India (NSCI), which has a rich sporting culture and has always played an encouraging role for the promotion of sports and sportspersons at all levels, is set to take squash to a different level. NSCI is especially erecting an outdoor all glass (four-sided) court for the conduct of the 4th NSCI All India Open (Junior and Senior) Squash Tournament 2019, scheduled to commence from June 1.
This five-day event is being organised by NSCI with LIC of India as the co-partner and will be conducted under the auspices of SRFI. This is a new high for NSCI, as this is probably the first club in the city to hold a national-level domestic tournament for Indian players in an all-glass court. Matches would simultaneously be played in the club’s four glass-back courts. Many of the juniors players will get the feel of the glass court for the first time, wherein there are six age group categories for both boys and girls. This contest will be held in the knockout format.
P Dasgupta, Regional Manager, LIC of India will formally inaugurate the tournament on Saturday. Hemant Bhargava, Managing Director, LIC of India, will be present to witness the finals and preside over the prize distribution function on Thursday, June 6.
