Mumbai : Dahisar’s VPM Sports Club’s athletes for the third year in row cornered the major honours on a day when 20 new meet records were established on the concluding day of the Poinsur Gymkhana open athletics championships held at their ground at Kandivali on Saturday. They aggregated 454 points, far ahead of Children’s Sports Academy (310) and Udayachal School (117). Incidentally, both the men and women shared the haul of the records with 10 each to their credit.
And their athletes Nikhil Kadam with 18 points , with three golds and a silver and Shweta Hakke with 15 points , winning three events – 100m, 200m, 400m – all with new records) emerged best men and women athlete respectively. While Rene Desai and Kirti Bhoite, also from VPM SC, jointly earned the honours in the under-16 section, with 13 points each. However, Manav Shah, of children’s Academy, with 15 points was the best athlete in the under-16 boys category.
