Nicholas D’Souza passes away

Mumbai : Nicholas (Nicky) D’Souza, (58), a former hockey player and ex-staff member of MHAL, passed away on Saturday morning.

He is survived by his wife Philomena, daughters Angela and Eliza and hockey playing sons Peter (Air India Western Region) and Boon (Central Railway).

Nicky represented Young Sports, Bombay Republicans, Punjab Sports and Western Railway and severed MHAL for over two decades.

Before he quit his job due to health issues, Nicholas, was seen actively on the ground providing first aid treatment to players who got injured during their matches.

Nicholas was popular with the players and also media persons.

His father, late Anthony also worked with the Bombay Hockey Association and his brother Agnel continues to work at MHAL.

His funeral took place on Saturday and his cortege was laid to rest at the St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haines Road, Mahalaxmi.
