Mumbai : Mumbai players Diya Chitale and Srushti Haleangadi and coach Monalisa Barua-Mehta will be part of four Indians selected for the World Cadet Challenge Table Tennis. Parth Virmani of Delhi will complete the squad. The Mumbai trio will represent their respective teams in the 2015 ITTF World Cadet Challenge to be held at the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheik from October 23 to 31. This prestigious ITTF event is restricted to only eight teams, one each from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania plus the World Hopes Team and the host Egypt team.
Twelve-year-old Diya Chitale got selected as member of the World Hopes Team following her brilliant bronze winning effort in the ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge held at Shanghai, China in July. Fifteen-year-old Srushti Haleangadi got selected as member of the prestigious Asian Team following her sterling performance at the Asian Cadet Championship at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in July. Arjuna Awardee and national coach Monalisa Barua-Mehta was named coach of the World Hopes team. “We have been training hard and hope to put up a good show,” said Diya and Srushti.
