Mumbai : Dombivali Gymkhana ‘Warriors’ and Matunga Gymkhana ‘Mercenaries’ kicked off their campaigns with bonus point wins, in the opening week of The World Zoroastrian Organization Mumbai Snooker League 2012, orgainsed by the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra and hosted by Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.
Warriors overcame North Indian Association ‘Chargers’ to earn five points including a bonus point in Group J, while Mercenaries beat Dombivali Gymkhana ‘Commandos’ to earn five points in Group H.
Among the other teams that earned bonus points were, NSCI ‘Sharp Shooters’, Islam Gymkhana ‘Incredible’, JVPG ‘Fighters’ and MCF ‘Dark Knights’.
Rahul Sachdev of Indian Snooker Academy ‘Cue Masters’ registered significant breaks of 43, 35, 32 and 30. Dhaval Kenla of Warriors got the second highest break of 37.
The competition features 59 teams that have been divided into 12 groups.
A win earns two points and teams that register home and away wins will earn a bonus point in the round robin league. The top two from each group will qualify for the knock out phase.
