India’s Farman just misses medal

Rio de Janeiro : Indian powerlifter Farman Basha missed out on a medal as he finished fourth in the men’s 49kg event of the Rio Paralympic Games here.

Basha managed a best lift of 140kg in three attempts to miss the medal.

Cong van Le, who set a world record with a successful lift of 181 kg, won the gold medal while Omar Qarada of Jordan claimed the silver medal.

Hungary’s Nandor Tunkel settled for a bronze medal.

Basha is a former bronze-medallist from the 2010 Asian Para Games. His medal was upgraded to silver after the original winner flunked a dope test.
