Mumbai: Florian Sanches, ex FIFA referee {Bombay Referees Association} passed away Monday after a brief illness. Florian was a popular name in the Indian football fraternity, having been long associated with FIFA and the Bombay Referees Association.
In addition to his love for the game, Florian had a long stint with the ANZ Grindlays Bank from where he retired a few years ago.
Not many may know, but he was also the lead vocalist for Chris Perry’s band during his prime years. Florian was loved by all for his jovial and fun loving nature and will be surely missed by those who have been privileged to know him.
He is survived by his wife June Sanchesa and daughters Goretti Neilson, Charmaine Corda and their families and his son, Don Sanches.
The funeral mass is at Gloria Church, Byculla at 4pm on 20th March 2013, followed by burial at Haines Road Cemetery, Mahalakshmi.
