Mumbai : Floyd Dharmai’s double strikes were the feature of Chimbai SC’s easy 4-0 win against Theresians SC in a Premier Division match of the 11th BWFA Football league 2014, conducted by Bandra West Football Association under the auspices of the MDFA, sponsored by MLA Baba Siddique and played at the Dr. Norman Lewis Supari Talao municipal grounds.
Teammates Neren Quadros and Zeeshan Tharia, both netted a goal each for the other two goals for Chimbai, who have now qualified for the quarter-final play-offs.
In another match, Bandra Packers were made to work hard for their 2-0 win by a spirited Young XI, who put up a strong fighting display. Packers finally broke the opponents resistance in the final 10 minutes when Raylin D’Mello struck first with a powerful header from a pass by Ranzie Kallicharan and later later Taha Kachwala struck after dribbling past a host of defenders to seal the win and their passage to the quarter-final play-offs.
Athletico Bandra got the better of Skylarks FC by an identical 2-0 margin scoring through their veteran Ben Fernandes in the first half and Dhruv Pandey in the second half.
In the women’s competition, Sea View Sports Club powered by the brilliant effort of Amrutha Gladyus who struck a first half hat-trick, recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over M. United.
Namrata Thakur who had an outstanding match struck the fourth goal in the second half to complete the rout and ensure Sea View’s passage to the quarter-final playoffs.
In another match of the girls section, Companeroes SC shocked a fancied Kenkre FC 4-0 to also remain unbeaten and make it to the quarter-final play offs with goals at regular intervals from Andrite Rodrigues, Rebecca Rodrigues, Abigail Fernandes and Shalene D’Souza.
