Johannesburg: Amidst mounting pressure on Louis van Gaal, the embattled Manchester United manager has revealed that goalkeeper David de Gea will undergo scans to determine the severity of his injured knee. The crisis of the Old Trafford club deepened after United suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Danish champions Midtjylland in the first-leg of their Europa League last-32 tie in Herning on Thursday.
De Gea was replaced by Sergio Romero in the starting line-up after the Spaniard was seen limping when United were going through their final warm-up routines. Van Gaal said that they would investigate De Gea’s knee problem with a scan on Friday, Sport24 reported. Earlier, captain Wayne Rooney was ruled out for six weeks due to a knee injury.
